Community
Catenians already take or have taken active roles in their local community. By serving the Church and/or supporting charities.
It would be hard to find a parish group or Catholic group that does not have some Catenian links. Whether it is parish finance teams, school governors, parish volunteers or other community groups.
By their very nature Catenians are actively involved in the community.
Our organisation has two of it’s own charities. The benevolent fund and the bursary fund.
In addition to these, each circle president nominates a charity for his year in office. Any funds raised by the circle go to support a wide range of local to national charities.
Supporting the Youth
One of the core parts of our Association is our commitment to supporting young people in society. Whether that’s through a number of annual events and schemes, grants to those contributing the community projects nationally and internationally, or opportunities for personal development in their education or the world of work, the Catenians are dedicated to helping young people on their journey through life.
Public Speaking Competion
An annual public speaking competition is held for Catholic schools encouraging young people to find their voice.
The winners of the Provincial competition then goes onto the National competition to represent us.
This competition builds confidence, self-belief, resilience, plus speaking and presentation skills, as a result , this is a well-received competition.
Flame
We’re one of the main sponsors of Flame – the largest gathering of young Catholic people in England and Wales. Taking place every two years at Wembley Arena, this day-long event is packed with music, moments of prayer, fresh insights, and friendship. And, it’s open to young people of all faiths (or none), aged Year 9 up to university age, as an opportunity to ask questions and come together in community.
